Finding Your Place

Finding Your Place

Have you ever heard the expression “rat race” used to describe the day to day grind called life. One analogy for living life is comparing it to a marathon. Finding your pace in life can be difficult if you only look at it from a day-to-day perspective.

Have you ever heard the expression “rat race” used to describe the day to day grind called life. One analogy for living life is comparing it to a  marathon. Finding your pace in life can be difficult if you only look at it from a day-to-day perspective. Once you get to a certain age, goals that haven’t been achieved can trigger a sense of physiological-emotional panic.
In our world of instant gratification, two essential qualities are necessary to insure completion of life with a sense of fulfillment. First you must find a way to maintain your capacity to believe you can. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith (belief) is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.
The second quality is simply patience. Let me acknowledge that there is nothing simple about developing patience so my reference is one of commonality. Most of us understand the need for endurance in succeeding in life but disciplining ourselves to do it, identifies the winners. Maybe the key for relieving the anxieties in ours lives is not stronger medication, a shopping spree, a new man toy or superficial relationships, but to simply concentrate on our ability to believe, and to allow time for the maturation to finish each stage of the race we are running.
